Supply Chain Management Information System
Question1 : Quickly depict the business forms bolstered by a Supply Chain Management (SCM) data framework. In a worldwide systematic Emerson what are the points of interest and detriments of utilizing a SCM data framework? With Emersons numerous divisions utilizing various providers, what might be the advantages of utilizing a solitary SCM data framework for the entirety of its divisions? Answer1 : Gracefully Chain the board is about viably incorporating the progression of materials and stream of data inside the flexibly and request process. Flexibly Chain the board underpins different procedures, for example, return the executives, estimating coordinations, request the executives, acquisition and stock administration and furthermore arranging and guaging (Olson, 2012). This shows the gracefully chain the board is for the most part supportive for improving the business activities and furthermore keep up upper hand in the serious market. Through compelling usage of flexibly chain the board an association can improve its presentation and profitability, amplify the adequacy of cost and furthermore increment its skills (Kart, Moser and Melliar-Smith, 2010). With the fast improvement in data framework incorporation (ISI) and data innovation (IT), and its job in coordinated flexibly tie the board have been able to be basic to different analysts and officials. ISI addresses the degree of cooperation in practices of data framework between the elements of business inside a firm and between a firm and its accomplices for exchanging. It has been accounted for that the introduction and utilization of ISI for flexibly chain the executives redesign the associations' turn of events and intensity (Jitpaiboon, 2005). While various firms focus on achieving a lot of IT use, without high measures of ISI, individuals from flexibly chain the board may not achieve the full focal points of working inside a gracefully chain. As indicated by the setting of various leveled gracefully chain, the data innovation allows various relationship to team up with the exercises of the association that encourage to truly manage a flexibly chain. With increasingly compell ing IS rehearses (outer and inside) grants firms to remain centered in a rapidly advancing condition. Firms need to regulate unmistakable jobs of advancements by consolidating and sorting out them into a gainful, reasonable, and responsive structure (McLaren, Head and Yuan, 2004). For worldwide business firms like Emersons, the SCM IS might be beneficial in different manners. A flexibly chain the executives data framework assists with incorporating the essential exercises of the association that is the inbound and outbound calculated with the help exercises of the association. This framework underpins essentially three key procedures: source, get and resolve which makes the procedure of the association increasingly productive and quicker (Kart, Moser and Melliar-Smith, 2010). The upside of actualizing such framework is that it upgrades the speed of gracefully and licenses the associations to make their general procedure proficient and speedier. Further, the framework additionally empowers both the clients and the providers to diminish the inventories measure and decrease the stock expense. This would assist with developing the organization in a since quite a while ago run by keeping up ease. This SCM IS additionally assists with improving the conveyance proced ure which empowers the providers to convey the segments and the materials on schedule and furthermore empowers to actualize in the nick of time forms that grant the producers to deal with and diminish the crude materials effectively (Balakrishnan, Bowne and Eckstein, 2008; Barut, Faisst and Kanet, 2002). Be that as it may, the SCM IS additionally has a few drawbacks like some of the time like it very well may be perplexing as far as learning the framework by less representatives and furthermore executing the framework might be costly. A substitute explanation completing a SCM System is a downside is in light of the fact that for a couple of affiliations it might oblige them to change altogether in light of the fact that their present structure is incredibly basic; therefore, use of such a significantly commendable structure could change the affiliation amazingly (Flynn, Huang and Zhao, 2014). In case an association turns out to be on a very basic level, for instance, Emerson did, at that point SCM IS can transform into an obstruction in light of the fact that the association creates and the system could get the chance to be unnecessary towards the association's key targets. An additional impediment of realizing a SCM data framework is that there could be a nonattendance of thankfulne ss for the structure by and large as there was for Emerson; this is engaged around the declaration (Lambert and Cooper, 2000). A substitute weakness for completing a SCM data framework is that in spite of the way that an association may envision that they have arranged their laborers enough, reality of this can be that there isn't sufficient approaches to prepare the representatives in regards to the framework (Zhao and Zhu, 2011).Being an enormous association, Emerson has numerous divisions with different providers working in it. In this way using single flexibly chain the executives data framework for all the divisions would assist the specialists with maintaining the framework effectively with no disturbance, further this would assist the association with storing all the data appropriately in a solitary framework and there is no dread of losing the information and furthermore usage cost gets decreased with single framework (Boone, Jayaraman and Ganeshan, 2012). Question2 : Worldwide organizations like Emerson have providers, assembling, conveyance, and retail activities. Rundown and quickly portray the innovations and gadgets (utilized for info, yield, and correspondence) that are utilized with SCM data frameworks. Pick two diverse information gadgets and talk about the points of interest and hindrances of each. Examine the advantages that they give to the business. Answer2 : In order to remain serious all around and remain on the front line of a mind boggling business world, more associations are solidifying development into their store organize organization structures today. The flexibility, versatility and solace of remote devices imply that the administrators of gracefully chain the board can compose structures at every association in the chain, from wherever they need (Vella, 2012). Similarly, merchants, flexibly chain accomplices and furthermore representatives can assume an essential job in ensuring capability for example; truck drivers can use GPS-arranged contraptions to in a split second report transportation gets that may upset the techniques further along the gracefully chain the board procedure. Additionally the distributed computing and the different programming programs have improved method of following the materials and furthermore update the constant status simply through a solitary touch. The utilization of innovations and gadgets additi onally assists with lessening the blunders in the creation and improve the administration towards the clients, giving gigantic advantages to the association over the enterprises. The most rising advances that strongly affect the gracefully chain the board and can be utilized for info, yield and correspondence are RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an innovation that utilizes coordinated effort of electrostatic or electromagnetic range in radio frequency(RF) for distinguishing the item, Remote administration, this is the procedure where the controlling gadget isn't appended to the genuine unit, RTLS (Real Time area framework) which chiefly permits to follow the framework through remote neighborhood, complete availability utilizing the 802.11 remote LA, Bluetooth this grants simple access to information and voice, compact printing, computerized imaging-this gadget permits to catch the pictures, discourse acknowledgment is a voice innovation which allows free information passage, GPS and Voice correspondence and furthermore 2D Bar Code which peruses the images and follows the item (Intermec, 2007). The two most significant sources of info that can be utilized for powerful gracefully chain the board are: RFID and 2D Bar Code. The benefits of utilizing RFID are that it assists with showing the tasks of the flexibly chain and furthermore resource the board. This gadget assists with diminishing the hour of stock procedure and furthermore further assists with following the stacking confirmation process via naturally recording the items that are being stacked (Brown, 2007; Tajima, 2007). Organizations like Emerson, can put the RFID labels on their long range vehicles, portable resources or trailers to expand perceivability of using their business resources. Further this procedure additionally helps in securing the brand picture by distinguishing the forged items. The UIN (novel recognizable proof number) on the labels of RFID can be utilized for checking the items genuineness. These exceptional numbers can be worked together with the encryption calculations that help to produce validation plans and make complex for the forgers to dodge (Fosso Wamba, 2012; Attaran, 2007). Be that as it may, there are different disservices of utilizing RFID in gracefully chain the executives like the RFID incorporates embeddings and collecting the electronic chip which makes the procedure exorbitant. Indeed, even the perusers of RFID battle in recovering the data while it goes through fluid or metal. Despite the fact that RFID labels are useful, there may be impact when numerous labels begin reacting simultaneously (Michael and McCathie, 2005; Vizinex RFID, 2010). The benefits of using 2D Bar Codes are that contrasted with RFID it is more affordable in light of the fact that they are fundamentally imprinted on paper or plastic. It is an all inclusive innovation and can be handled from any piece of the world. There exist no protection issues in Bar Code process. This framework additionally have detriments like the codes get harmed effectively as it is set outside the item, there is likewise need of work escalated in light of the fact that the items are to be examined independently (Ray, 2010). Question3 : Consider that you need to execute another SCM data framework for Emerson. Portray every one of the diverse usage choices. Talk about the preferences and disadvant

Oresteia Essay Example For Students
Oresteia Essay Progression Towards Light Aeschylus use of darkness and light as a consistent image in the Oresteia depicts a progression from evil to goodness, disorder to order. In the Oresteia, there exists a situation among mortals which has gotten out of control; a cycle of death has arisen in the house of Atreus. There also exists a divine disorder within the story which, as the situation of the mortals, must be brought to resolution: the Furies, an older generation of gods, are in conflict with the younger Olympian gods because they have been refused their ancient right to avenge murders between members of the same family. The Oresteia presents two parallel conflicts, both of which must be resolved if harmony is ever to be desired again. As one can expect, these conflicts eventually do find their resolutions, and the images of darkness and light accompany this progression, thereby emphasizing the movement from evil to good. The use of darkness imagery first emerges in the Agamemnon. In this first play of the trilogy, the cycle of death which began with the murder and consumption of Thyestes children continues with Clytaemestras murder of Agamemnon and Cassandra. The darkness which is present in the beginning of the story is further magnified by the death of Agamemnon. This is illustrated when Clytaemestra says, Thus he Agamemnon went down, and the life struggled out of him; and as he died he spattered me with the dark red and violent driven rain of bitter savored blood (lines 1388-1390). Clytaemestra has evilly and maliciously murdered her own husband; thus the image of the dark blood. The darkness is representative of the evil which has permeated the house of Atreus, and which has persisted with this latest gruesome act of murder. Because darkness results from the death of Agamemnon, Aeschylus clearly illustrates that this murder was nothing but pure evil. As long as this type of evil continues to be practiced in the house of Atreus, darkness will continue to emerge. The Oresteia has not yet seen the light. The beginning of the progression from darkness to light can initially be seen in the second play of the trilogy, The Libation Bearers. Orestes is the embodiment of this light, a beacon signalling a possible end in the evil that has infected the house of Atreus. It is true that Orestes, in revenge for Agamemnon, kills his mother Clytaemestra. Yet the darkness that is expected from such a murder, a matricide, is negated by one of the main reasons that Orestes commits the murder: his fear of the wrath of Apollo, who has ordered him to commit the deadly act. Aeschylus provides Orestes with a justification for his action in the form of the oracle from Apollo. For not only does Orestes murder of his mother fail to differ greatly from Clytaemestras murder of Agamemnon, but it can in fact be seen as a worse crime because of the blood ties. Therefore, in order to convincingly prove his assertion that Orestes is justified in killing his mother, Aeschylus must include the order from Apollo, wh o by no mere coincidence is the god of light. With the divine support of the light god on his side, Orestes is the beginning of the progressive illumination towards goodness and order in the Oresteia. Another example of Orestes introduction of light into a story of darkness occurs later in The Libation Bearers. The chorus is describing the dream that Clytaemestra has had of giving birth to a snake, which represents Orestes. The chorus sings of Clytaemestras fear as she awakens from the nightmare: She woke screaming out of her sleep, shaky with fear, as torches kindled all about the house, out of the blind dark that had been on them (lines 535-537). Aeschylus describes the house of Clytaemestra, the rightful house of Atreus and the Atridae, as dark; this darkness has been caused by none other than her own murderous deeds. She has dreamt of the coming of her son Orestes to avenge his father, and the torches that light up the house signal this coming. Clearly, Orestes is the man who will restore light to the house of Atreus. .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .postImageUrl , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:hover , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:visited , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:active { border:0!important; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:active , .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9 .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue25cc89722b873dd123d9ba1f01d3fd9:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: THE SECOND AMENDMENT: Essay Orestes is looked upon by those characters sympathetic to his plight (namely Electra and the chorus of The Libation Bearers) as the light which will bring an end to the evil in the house of Atreus. Soon after Orestes reveals his identity to his sister, he proclaims that he will avenge his fathers murder. The chorus, who represent the subjects of the late Agamemnon, express their gratitude for Orestes decision when they say, But when strength came back hope lifted me again, and the sorrow was gone and the light was on me (lines 415-417). Orestes arrival and his resolution to make his mother pay for her crimes illuminates the darkness which Clytae mestra has brought upon the royal house; the chorus, in proclaiming that the light is on them, recognize that Orestes is the man who will achieve this illumination. Electra also recognizes that Orestes will bring good to an evil situation: O bright beloved presence, you bring back four lives to me (lines 238-239). Orestes presence brightens the dark, gloomy state of mind of Electra just as it brightens the dark, gloomy situation in the house of Atreus. Following the murder of Clytaemestra and Aegisthus at the hands of Orestes, light is finally restored to the conflict within the mortal house of Atreus. Orestes has fulfilled the oracle imposed upon him by Apollo, and the darkness, the evil of Clytaemestra, has been defeated. In reference to this defeat, the chorus proclaims, Light is here to behold. The big hit that held our house is taken away (lines 961-962). The disorder and darkness that had reigned in the house of Atreus exists no longer; Orestes has given his family illumination. The evil darkness has been overcome by the good light. Another way in which Aeschylus manifests the imagery of light and darkness is through the conflict between the Olympic and Chthonic gods. The Olympic gods are represented in the Oresteia by Apollo and Athene. Aeschylus ties together the ideas of justice and reason, Athenes domain, with the idea of light, of which Apollo is god. By contrast, the black clad Chthonic gods, the Furies, tie together the idea of darkness with the idea of bloody revenge, which is their area of specialization. In the Eumenides, Pythia says of the Furies, They are black and utterly repulsive, and they snore with breath that drives one back (lines 52-53). The contrast between the two different races of gods sets up Aeschylus second progression from darkness to light in the Oresteia. The Furies are at first incapable of treating Orestes with the justice that he deserves. They do not take into account the circumstances under which Orestes killed his mother, specifically the pressure which he had received from Apollo. Therefore, the Furies are at first enraged that Athene allows Orestes to escape their dark and bloody vengeance. Eventually, however, the Furies hate begins to subside and they accept the arbitration of Athene, who offers them land and honor in Athens. This acceptance marks the beginning of their movement from darkness to light. They embrace the just attitude of the Olympic gods Apollo and Athene, progressing from a doctrine of bloody revenge to one of reason and justice. The light images emerge along with this progression, and the Furies proclaim near the end of the Eumenides: So with forecast of good I speak this prayer for them the citizens of Athens that the suns bright magnificence shall break out wave on wave of all the happiness life can give , across their land (lines 921-925). The Chthonic gods have given up their dark ways and have called for light. This light image is also manifested in the garments that the Furies change into at the end of the Eumenides: where they had previously worn black robes, they now wear bright crimson robes. Now calling themselves the Eumenides, or Benevolent Ones, these gods have progressed from symbols of evil darkness into symbols of bright goodness. .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .postImageUrl , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:hover , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:visited , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:active { border:0!important; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:active , .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u5418777a9eaec0311eadba5243d225fe:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Enron The Smartest Guys In The Room Accounting Essay In his trilogy the Oresteia, Aeschylus use of darkness and light imagery coincides with his progression of themes. Orestes, who represents light, brings and end to the vicious cycle of dark death continued by Clytaemestra. He illuminates the dark evil in the house of Atreus. Likewise, Athene and Apollo bring the Furies out of their dark, blood-lusting ways and into an order of justice and reason, transforming them into the brightly clad Benevolent Ones. In the end, goodness prevails over evil just as light conquers darkness. Aeschylus effectively makes use of his images to emphasize this movement.

3 Changes That Will Take Your Essay From Good To Great
3 Changes That Will Take Your Essay From Good To Great Whether youre sitting down to write a research paper for English class about Buddha or youre hours deep in the writing portion of the ACT, you want to write a great essay. And although different people have different notions about what makes an essay truly great, there are a number of things that educators and writers generally agree upon as gold-quality standards. Here are three of those qualities that can take your essay from basic to fabulous. 1. Language The usage of language in an essay is more than just the actual words you use throughout. Things like sentence structure, stylistic choices, levels of formality, grammar, usage, and mechanics all come into play. à Good Language Good language in an essay is merely adequate. Its basic. Theres nothing inherently wrongà with your language, but theres nothing exceptional about it, either. Good essay language means youre usingà some variety in your sentence structures. For instance, you may write a few simple sentences interspersed with some compound sentences. Your level of formality and tone are also appropriate to the essay. Youre not using familiar language and slang, for example, when youre writing a research report in class. Good language in an essay does not disrupt your thesis. Your point gets across and thats all well and fine if youre happy with a good essay. Example:à When Jack walked into his grandmothers kitchen, he spotted the freshly baked cake on the counter. He helped himself to a huge piece. It was chocolate, and the frosting was a delicious vanilla buttercream. He licked his lips and took a gigantic bite.à Great Language Great language is fresh, full of sensory detail when appropriate and propels your essay forward in invigorating ways. Great language uses a variety of sentence structures and even some intentional fragments when appropriate. Your tone isnt merely adequate; it enhances your argument or point. Your language is precise. Its chosen specifically to add nuance or shades of meaning. The sensory details you select pull your readers in, giving them goosebumps, and make them want to keep on reading. Great language makes readers take what youve said very seriously. Example:à Jack stepped over the threshold of his grandmothers kitchen and inhaled. Chocolate cake. His stomach rumbled. He walked to the counter, mouth watering, and took a à rose-pattered china plate from the cabinet and a bread knife from the drawer. The slice he sawed off was enough for three. The first bite of rich vanilla buttercream made his jaw ache. Before he knew it, nothing was left but chocolate crumbs scattered on the plate like confetti.à 2. Analysis Teachers are always asking you to dig deep in your essay, but what does that really mean? Depth is the level at which you analyze the topic you are writing about. The deeper you dive into your essay, the more poking and prodding at values, tensions, complexities, and assumptions you will do.à Good Analysis The word analysis in and of itself implies a certain level of depth. A good analysis will use reasoning and examples that are clear and adequately demonstrate the importance of the topic. Support may be relevant, but it may come across as overly general or simplistic. You will have scratched the surface of the topic, but you will not have explored as many of the complexities as you could have.à Lets take, for example, this question: Should cyberbullying be stopped by the government? Example: Cyberbullying needs to be stopped in its tracks by the government because of the harm that it causes to the victim. Teenagers who have been bullied online have had to be treated for depression, have felt compelled to change schools, and some have even committed suicide. A persons life is too important not to intervene.à Great Analysis A great analysis of a topic is a thoughtful critique that demonstrates insight. It critiques assumptions and details complexities not hinted at in just a good analysis. In the example above, the good analysis mentions the harm to a victim of bullying and names three things that could happen to him or her because of it, but doesnt get into other areas that might offer more insight like societal values, governmental control, effects rippling from one generation to the next, for example.à Example:à Although cyberbullying needs to be stopped - the effects are to dire notà to intervene - the government cannot be the entity to regulate speech online. The fiscal and personal costs would be staggering. Not only would citizens be forced to give up their First Amendment rights to free speech, they would have to relinquish their rights to privacy, as well. The government would be everywhere, becoming even more of a big brother than they are right now. Who would pay for such scrutiny? Citizens would pay with their freedom andà their wallets.à 3. Organization Organization can quite literally make or break your essay. If a reader doesnt understand how youve gotten from point A to point B because none of your dots seem to connect, then he or she wont be compelled to read any further. And more importantly, he or she will not have listened to what you have had to say. And thats the biggest problem there is.à Good Organization A standard five-paragraph essay structure is what most students use when they write essays. They start with an introductory paragraph ending with a thesis sentence. They move on to body paragraph one with a topic sentence, and then proceed, with a few scattered transitions, to body paragraphs two and three. They round out their essay with a conclusion that neatly restates the thesis and ends with a question or a challenge. Sound about right? If this sounds like every essay youve ever written, then you can be sure youre not alone. Its a perfectly adequate structure for a basic essay.à Example: Introduction with thesis Body paragraph oneSupport oneSupport twoSupport three Body paragraph twoSupport oneSupport twoSupport three Body paragraph threeSupport oneSupport twoSupport threeConclusion with restated thesis Great Organization Great organization tends to move beyond just simple supports and basic transitions. Ideas will progress logically and increase the arguments success. Transitions within and between paragraphs will strengthen the argument and heighten meaning. If you start out organizing your essay strategically, with room for analysis and counterarguments built in, your chances of building a great essay improve by quite a bit. And some students find it easier to get more in depth by writing a four-paragraph essay instead of five. You can engaged more with a particular topic in the body paragraphs if you knock out your weakest argument and focus instead on providing a deeper, more thoughtful analysis with just two.à Example:à Introduction with thesis Body paragraph oneSupport one with detailed analysisSupport two that addresses values, complexities and assumptionsCounterpoint and dismissal of the counterpoint Body paragraph twoSupport one with detailed analysisSupport two that addresses values, complexities and assumptionsCounterpoint and dismissal of the counterpointConclusion with restated thesis and option for better idea Writing Great Essays If your goal is to move forward out of mediocrity, then spend some time learning the basics of great essay writing. After that, pick up your pencil or paper and practice. Nothing will prepare you better for your next essay then writing strategically-organized, well-analyzed, and carefully-worded paragraphs when the pressureà isntà on. The stirking contrast shown between the lives led by Leighââ¬â¢s family and Michael stirred very strong emotions in me. The ground reality of the divisions in our society between the upper echelons and the lower echelons could not help but make me feel bad for the state of poor Michael. He did nothing to deserve the kind of childhood and life he was leading. Unfortunately, he is just a depiction and fictitious character but there are many such cases out there that are malnutritioned, with no home to stay and with no hope for future. T he plight of those kids stood before me as Michael maneuvered his way into the track of the movie. It was heart-breaking to know the reality but even worse was inkling in the back of my mind that Michael is just a character and there are many others out there who literally go through this every day. You canââ¬â¢t help but wonder why some people are blessed with everything in the world (Annââ¬â¢s family) while some donââ¬â¢t even have a roof above them. The disparity in the society raised a lot of questions in my mind. (The Blind-Side Rotten Tomatoes) While I loved the theme of the movie, it had some short ââ¬âcomings too. They did not characterize Leigh Ann deeply. It was never made clear what her motivations were. What was she feeling guilty about? For being so rich or for Michael being so unlucky? Was it guilt over her being white and Michael being black? He goes on to become a player in the NFL. What financial gain did she gain in bringing him down? What was her yout h like? Clearly, there are so many rich people out there but not everyone bothers to offer shelter to passersby in their house. What drove Leigh Ann to such an extent? There are such potholes in the track that need to make sense in the movie. Part of the reason why it garnered flak from most of the critics is because of such places where the movie failed to make sense. I also felt that the casting of the movie was inappropriate for Michael. Quinton Aaron was not the best choice. He didnââ¬â¢t generate a lot of emotions. Most of the time he stood there with a half smile on his face. It was very difficult to decipher his emotions through the course of the movie. Kathy Bates had nothing substantial to offer. Why she was even there made no sense too. However the aforementioned are the only glitches in the track. The Blind Side takes on a very different humanitarian theme. It was heart wrenching to see Michael trying to lead a normal life; doing little things and especially when he pl ayed football. The movie does not have extra-vagant sets or an extra-ordinary script that will fetch it an Oscar but it is good movie that takes on the plight of the unfortunate. It made me feel good to know that there are people out there who feel for the state of the under pledged and tried to depict it through a movie. The film-maker deserves a standing ovation for this no matter what his motive was. While performances are concerned, Sandra Bullock was spot-on. This was one of her career best performances. She carries herself very

The status of trustees Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
The status of trustees - Case Study Example The status of trustees In case there is a breach of trust on the part of the fiduciary, the beneficiary can move the court and claim damages. Another interesting concept that introduces itself when a case is filed is that of 'equity'. A lawsuit might entail just monetary claims as a part of the verdict. However, equity as a set of legal principles restrains or orders the execution of a certain action. Calling it a course of natural justice would not be an exaggeration. Many case histories citing breach of trust in fiduciary-beneficiary relationship abound the legal corridors. What is important to understand in this context is the way legal implications were enforced. There are examples that hold a fiduciary's position as such that he is liable to be punished, whatever may be intentions. There are some other cases where the fiduciary was exempted. The basis of each case of course was the peculiar circumstances as well as the moral and legal guidelines that influenced it. 'Boardman was solicitor to a trust, which owned 8,000 of 30,000 shares in a private textile company, with whose performance Boardman was dissatisfied. The trust had no wish to buy the remaining shares, and in any case was unable to buy them, although it could have applied to court for power to do so. Since a companyââ¬â¢s Facebook page will reflect its business and what it stands for, the management must pay higher attention to creating and maintaining its brand page. To illustrate, the firm may set a cover photo that depicts the essence of its brand and quality of products/services offered. Boardman decided to purchase them himself, undoubtedly benefiting from information he had received as in his fiduciary capacity (in knowing what price to offer), and did not obtain the consent of all beneficiaries. The shares later increased in value (partly perhaps because of Boardman's management in selling off some of the assets of the newly acquired company), so Boardman made a large profit for himself. Additionally, however, because the trust still had a large share in the same company, his activities also resulted in a large profit for the trust. There was no claim of bad faith, nor any obvious conflict of interest, since the trust did not have the power to purchase the shares itself, and in any case, the trust had positively benefited from Boardman's intervention. In negotiating for the majority shareholding Boardman had, in good faith, obtained information in his capacity as solicitor to the trust, which he would not otherwise have obtained. Phipps,a beneficiary under the trust, sued for an account of profits.' 1 As per the specifications of the legal framework, if a fiduciary performs an action, which is injurious to the interests of the beneficiary and profits a rival in the process, the fiduciary ought to reimburse the losses. However, in this particular case, Boardman had bought the shares in a personal capacity and in no way incurred any kind of loss to the beneficiaries. An increase in the value of shares implied profit for the trust. A pro-fiduciary perspective would view this action as a case of constructive trust 2 . However the court stretched it too far taking into consideration the viewpoint of the beneficiary, who put a question mark on Boardman's role s the beneficiary. The

What Are the Key Factors Which Lead to the Downfall of the Romanov Dynasty Essay Example for Free
What Are the Key Factors Which Lead to the Downfall of the Romanov Dynasty Essay 1917 saw the conclusion of the reign of the Romanov Dynasty, as well as the demise of Russiaââ¬â¢s last monarch, Tsar Nicholas II. It is evident that the downfall of the Romanov Dynasty was directly linked to key factors such as the autocratic style of the Romanov dynasty and the nature of the social structure, as well as the evolving nation of Russia, as a result of industrialisation. The Romanov family was viewed by the people of Russia as leaders ââ¬Ësent from Godââ¬â¢. However as the 20th century neared, this mystical admiration the public possessed for the royal family receded and was replaced by intellect. A growing sense of political and social awareness of the lower classes, as well as the introduction of democratic ideas from the West had sparked a change. The twentieth century saw the birth of new ideologies such as Leninism, Marxism, Liberalism and Socialism. These ideologies proposed new models of government techniques and questions the ruling of the Romanov Dynasty. Tsar Alexander II sensed the rising threat of terrorism threatening the Imperial family and more importantly the Dynastyââ¬â¢s autocratic rule. The responsibility of Russia was bestowed upon Nicholas II, son of Alexander II, based on the dynastyââ¬â¢s ritualistic practice of passing the throne to the Tsarââ¬â¢s eldest son or closest senior male relative. Nicholas II was reluctant to accept the responsibility of Russia, as well as its 126 subjects; however he acknowledged the burden of the crown as a spiritual experience destined by God. By the beginning of the 20th century, Russia had established itself as a vast empire, however in comparison to other countries; Russia was a ââ¬Ëbackward societyââ¬â¢ with mostly undeveloped resources. At this time, Russia had established rigid class distinctions, with 88% of the population farming the countryside as serfs, whilst land and high government positions were owned by 5% of Russiaââ¬â¢s population. In 1816, serfdom was abolished and peasants were free, however were required to pay compensation for land that they believed they already owned. Although agriculture remained the principle means of maintaining a livelihood for the lower class, peasants often struggled to live above starvation level, as they used inefficient farming techniques and had little land available to them. Those who struggled with agrarian lifestyles flocked to the cities, consequently causing a major increase in the urban population. As a result factory working conditions also suffered. Factory workers received low wages, at times only 25-30% of British workers, as well as long working hours, sometimes extending to 15 hour shifts. Workers were forced to endure these conditions, with little hope of assistance, as the Russian government had provided no means by which workers could express their grievances or dissatisfaction with their present conditions. The Tsarââ¬â¢s power was unlimited with no political party or constitution to inspect the Tsarââ¬â¢s ruling, as well as a secret police, known as the Ohkrana, which terrorised those threatening public order. ââ¬ËI shall uphold the principle of Autocracy as firmly and as undeviating as did my late fatherââ¬â¢ (Nicholas II, first proclamation, 29th January, 1895 source:Punch,9 February 1895 ) This proclamation illustrates Tsar Nicholasââ¬â¢s incentives to intimate his father Alexender II, by means of resisting modernisation and change, in the nation of Russia. Despite these obvious signs of corruption within the Tsar, the public, largely due to the coercive influence of the Russian Orthodox Church, continued to hold a mystical admiration for the Tsar and the royal family. However, while the myth of Tsar Nicholas or the publicââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëlittle fatherââ¬â¢ retained some currency, the events of the years 1904 to 1905 disrupted this myth dramatically. In 1904, the governmentââ¬â¢s decision to go to war against Japan highlighted its weakness. The two countries had been competing for years over territory and influence in the Korean peninsula of Manchuria. Nicholas, along with most Russianââ¬â¢s believed that a brief encounter with Russiaââ¬â¢s vast navy and army would be the solutions to their present conflicts with Japan. Nicholas was wrong. The war ended with the humiliation of Russian defeat, in August 1905. Confirmation of the Russian government and military weakness heightened discontent and fueled many reform movements. Meanwhile other incidences, such as the massacre or ââ¬ËBloody Sundayââ¬â¢ on the 9th of January 1905, sparked political unrest in the capital of Russia. On this day a large crowd of people marched towards the Winter Palace, in St Petersburg, presenting a petition to the Tsar. The petition demanded a series of measures that would improve the position of those being exploited by their factory owners. ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t refuse to help your people, lead them out of the grave of disfranchisement, poverty and ignorance Tear down the wall between you and your people, and let them rule the country with you Look without anger at our requests, they are not intended for an evil but for a good cause, for both of usâ⬠(Petition of the Workers and Residents of St Petersburg for Submission to Nicholas II) This extract displays the continuing confidence in the Tsar and assurance that he will overcome his evil advisors and attend to the struggling lower classes. However this confidence in the Tsar was completely destroyed by the following event. Under command, troops, who were guarding the palace, opened fire on the crowd, killing 100 protestors and wounding almost 300. Although it is still unknown who directed the final orders, Nicholasââ¬â¢s absence from the protest, eroded the iconic image of the Tsar and the myth upon which the Tsarist system was sustained. Hostility towards the blood bath was generated from the lower proletarian classes and reverberated upwards throughout the empire. As a result nine months of strikes, peasant revolts and mutinies among the army and navy, followed. Workers began to form councils, known as soviets, where workerââ¬â¢s representatives would voice their grievances and political protest campaigns were fashioned. Under immense pressure from these disturbances, the Tsar was forced to make compromises to the demands of the people in order to preserve the support of the public. On the 17th of October, the Tsar introduced the October Manifesto. This granted the people of Russia the freedom of conscience, speech, meeting and association. The manifesto also promised the introduction of a Duma, or parliament, elected by universal suffrage. The design of the Duma was to provide the people of Russia with the power to create and approve laws. The intentional exclusion of the word ââ¬Ëconstitutionââ¬â¢ ensured that the Tsar autocratic power remained unscathed. The Duma was the Tsarââ¬â¢s puppet; he could dismiss and announce the duma, personally choose and dismiss ministers and declare new laws unaided, at any time. The first two Dumaââ¬â¢s lasted only a few months before they were later dissolved, by the Tsar. The third Duma survived as a result of an alteration in the electing process of representatives. Subsequently the Duma became dominated by land-owners and businessmen who were more conservative and ââ¬Ëtrustworthyââ¬â¢ elements to the Tsar. This alteration destroyed the sole purpose of Duma as it hindered all classes from expressing their opinions. Although evidence of reform in the government was present, the manifesto did not address current problems affecting the lower classes such as poverty, low wages and poor working and living conditions. The grievances of the lower classes remained unheard and the gap between the Tsar and his subjects widened. For these reasons recently legalised parties such as the Social Democrats and Socialists revolutionaries had a willing audience. By the end of July 1914, the revolutionary discontent echoed the events of 1905 revolution. When World War II commenced early August 1914, Russia was in no state for battle. Although intensified emotions of patriotism temporarily calmed civil disputes, the hardships of the war brutally hit the home front. Russiaââ¬â¢s undeveloped economy struggled to sustain the war efforts and keep up with increased demands. By late 1914, dreams of a short successful battle were doubtful. In addition to previous hardships, concerns of high causality rates, inadequate medical care and shortages of resources, such as food, weaponry and ammunition were affecting the Russian front. In Mid 1915, Nicholas II, with the aim of improving Russiaââ¬â¢s current stance in the war, accepted the position as Commander-in-Chief of the Russian forces. Nicholas II had few military skills and was surrounded by ministers who had been chosen by himself, therefore were also sufficiently inexperienced. Meanwhile, German-born Tsarina Alexandra was temporarily responsible for the home front whilst her husband was away. The Tsarina was greatly influenced by Grigori Rasputin, a Russian mystic who was praised by Alexandra for his fanatical abilities to help her haemophilic son, Alexi, the heir to the throne. Tsarina had little political ability and looked towards Rasputin for advice. Due to the nepotism within the royal family, Rasputin was able to quickly posses doctrinal powers and become a influential member of the Russian court. The influence Rasputin had on the royal family as well as the scandalous relationship assumed to be between Alexandra and Rasputin discredited the Tsarist government. These scandals affected the way the public viewed the royal family and supported the idea that the royal family was easily dominated by religious mystics. By late 1916, discontent within Russia had reached crisis point. The duma and the majority of Russiaââ¬â¢s upper class no longer supported the Tsar. The Tsar had lost his authority in the eyes of the public. By 25th of January 1917, St Petersburg, the capital of Russia, was at a standstill. Numerous factories were shut, shops closed, public transport ceased to run and radical political leadership seemed to be using all possible means of protest. Unlike 1905, troops did not restrain the strikes; some even rebelled and joined the workers. Tsarist authority had vanished. On the 2nd of March 1917, Nicholas II abdicated and within a few hours, the Grand Duke, Nicholas IIââ¬â¢s brother, refused the responsibility of the throne. This was the definitive end to the Romanov Dynasty. In conclusion, although the Tsarââ¬â¢s character had great effect on the downfall of the Romanov Dynasty, it was ultimately the fault of Romanov dynastyââ¬â¢s ineffective style of government. As Russia became more industrialised, larger, and far more complicated, the inadequacies of autocratic Tsarist rule became increasingly apparent. Ritualistic beliefs such as the nepotistic process by which successive monarchs were selected, was unsuitable in an ever evolving world desperate for change and development. The Romanov Dynastyââ¬â¢s Autocratic approach to leadership had been successful for the previous three centuries, however as the twentieth century approached, the need for social and political reform advanced with it. For this reason, Nicholas II, was a victim of a time warp, where despite his best efforts to maintain authority of the autocratic crown, was forced to abandon inherited methods of leadership. He was trapped in a modernising world with outdated beliefs and traditions. Nevertheless, to a minor extent Tsar Nicholas was responsible for his own demise as he was aware of the changes occurring within the nation, however he didnââ¬â¢t not administer the needs and wants of his subjects.

Blaise Pascal :: essays research papers
Blaise Pascal was a great mathematician who lived in 17th Century France. His mother was Antoinette Begon; she died when Blaise was three. His father, Etienne took the responsibility of bringing him up. Pascal had two sisters, Gilberte and Jacqueline. Pascal began his studies in 1635 with his reading of Euclidââ¬â¢s Elements and mastered them by age 12. This won the boy respect for his great talent in mathematics. Pascal in fact did not attend school; instead, Etienne brought him to lectures and mathematical gatherings at the ââ¬Å"Academie Parsienneâ⬠nearly from its founding. At the early age of 16, Pascal began to play an active role in ââ¬Å"Academie Parisienneâ⬠. There, Pascal became the principal disciple of Girard Desargues, a professor working there because he was the only one who appreciated his work in geometry. Pascal began work on conics and published several papers to do with geometry. In fact, in June 1639, Pascal has already made a significant discovery with his ââ¬Å"mystical hexagramâ⬠. In 1641, he began to suffer from problems of health that delayed his research for a year, but he recovered and continued his work. In 1642, Pascal began to create a machine that would be similar to an everyday calculator to help his father with his accounting job. His first attempts were failures and Pascal was discouraged from working on the project for many years. He returned to it in 1644 because of the encouragement of many people. He finished the final model in 1645 after going through more than 50 incarnations of the design, he finished the final model in 1645, Pascal himself did the selling with a few associates but because of itââ¬â¢s high price of and limited uses, sales were probably modest. He did present one to Queen Christina of Sweden and he was allowed a monopoly over it by royal decree. Although Pascal had been raised as a Catholic, later in his life, Pascal had been converted to Jansenism in 1646 and moved to a monastery in Port Royal in France. But in 1658, he left the monastery to continue his mathematical work. Pascal then worked on many mathematical problems, including how fluids and gases behave (1646) this proved that the mercury in a barometer did not move because of a vacuum but rather because of barometric pressure, created ââ¬Å"Pascalââ¬â¢s Triangleâ⬠which calculated the probabilities of winning in gambling (1654) which today has been important in the study of statistics and even modern day physics, and the theory of indivisibles (1658).

Failure Of Failure After Failure - 1348 Words
As my first semester of college is coming to an end, I would like to reflect on my experience here within the Honors 120 and 121 class on Failure and the Question Wheel. I chose this class on failure because I have always held myself to such high standards that I hoped to be able to find a way to accept failure in some instances. Within our first week in class, we made claims about failure. My favorite claim was that every failure is in some way a success. Although this claim was not very debatable and incredibly generic, I was able to really let my mind explore what it was trying to say. Throughout the semester I experienced failure after failure, but that allowed me to see that success can still be achieved within failures. One major failure I experienced throughout the entire semester was my failure to speak up in class. In the beginning of the school year I failed to speak up mainly because I was shy and being around all new people whom I did not know made me feel very anxi ous. I thought that my anxiety about this class would lessen over time as I got to know my fellow classmates. However, as time went on I realized that while a majority of my classmates share these anxious feelings with me, the other students that had been speaking up are very strong-willed and can be judgmental at times. I then realized that I was scared to speak up in class because I feared that my ideas were not ââ¬Å"deepâ⬠enough or that the ââ¬Å"normal speakersâ⬠would think I was stupid.
